Summer 2023
During the summer, our four METEOR students carried out detailed research projects that resulted in posters and presentations. With your support, they developed research questions, created hypotheses, conducted tests, analyzed data, and planned future steps. They also attended 15 lectures on topics like health equity, statistics, and teamwork. Importantly, they gained hands-on experience in the operating room, performed a brain dissection in pathology, observed infants on ECMO, learned about learning disabilities from their childhood, and discussed MRI and CT scans with neuroradiologists. They spent time with occupational therapy (OT) and physical therapy (PT) as well. Additionally, they shadowed medical staff in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) and Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU), experienced the Emergency Department's Trauma Bay, and practiced in Simulation Labs at CNH and GW. These experiences were greatly appreciated by the METEOR students. During end-of-summer meetings, they expressed heartfelt gratitude for this "life-altering" program. The hands-on experiences and exposure to various health and science careers were particularly enjoyable. None of this could have happened without your support, and our team and the students are deeply thankful for all you have done.
