FAQs

Some of you will be placed in traditional “wet labs,” where you will conduct experiments or work with lab animals, and some will be placed in clinical settings, where your research may consist more of collecting and analyzing data.

  • The program is Monday - Friday from 9:00am - 2:00pm. Please make sure you are at the hospital and in your lab during these times. Your labs may ask you to stay longer. You must be available to come to the hospital throughout the entire 7 week program.

  • Unfortunately, the METEOR program does not offer paid sick leave at this time.

  • You will be assigned a mentor or two that you will work with throughout the summer. Some mentors are also surgeons or MDs that spend a lot of time in their clinics or the operating room. In cases such as this, you may be assigned a secondary mentor who you communicate with on a day-to-day level. If any issues arise with your mentor, please notify the program staff as soon as possible.

  • No! We welcome any student who is passionate about biomedical sciences or interested in pursuing a career in medicine to apply, regardless of your past experience.

  • By the end of the summer, you will complete an academic research poster that you will present during our poster session, which is open to all CNH employees, as well as friends and family. You will also orally present your research in a 30 minute presentation with questions and answers from other program members and CNH research staff.
