Mentored Experience to Expand Opportunities in Research (METEOR) Summer Program
A unique summer research experience at Children's National Hospital
Our Team
The METEOR team brings together researchers, and scientists to support the next generation of biomedical researchers.
Our Program
-
Students are paired with a mentorship team for a seven week research, lab- based experience at Children's National. METEOR students are integrated into mentorship teams, collaborate on research, and build meaningful relationships.
-
DC is a hub of biomedical research. In addition to a lab experience, METEOR students are exposed to other areas in metro area including field trips to the National Institutes of Health, National Library of Medicine, Food and Drug Administration, the Smithsonian National Zoo, and CLASS Center at GWU School of Medicine and Health Sciences.
-
Through shadowing and hands-on learning opportunities, students experience the inner workings of a top-ranked pediatric hospital, hear from doctors and academics at the forefront of the biomedical field, and build skills that support their future academic and career goals.
Our Students
Our students and fellows come from several high schools around the DMV where a commitment to the sciences is demonstrated through classwork, hands-on projects, and afterschool activities.
